Orchard: Extreme Garden Makeover 2.0

cherry bush

We planted an orchard!

We did our first Extreme Garden Make Over in 2015, when we got the Westerville Rd garden, In 2018, we put in the orchard at Fern and a hedge of cherry bushes at Joyce plus move soil, mulch and fertilizer. Thanks to crews of volunteers from Declan and Habitat for Humanity at the Extreme Garden Make Over 2.0.

Orchards and fruit trees are a permanent addition to the garden adding both beauty and food resilience to the neighborhood. Because they don’t need replanted each year like annual food crops, they provide food security with minimal maintenance.

Thanks for all volunteers who helped to plant our neighborhood gardens and orchard.
