Community service days help keep Columbus Beautiful by cleaning up litter and creating green spaces like the gardens at Fern and Joyce.
On one community service day in early February, with the help of 18 participants, we moved 14 yds of comtil, 7 yards to improve the soil at each garden site and then picked up trash from Agler down Joyce to the Alley, up the alley between Joyce and Fern, along Alger between Joyce and Fern, and up Fern to the garden and in the vacant lot across from the garden behind the carry out. We picked up 11 bags and a cardboard box full of trash, broken concrete and asphalt, scrap lumber and a sign.
